Welcome to Sujoy.com
Welcome to the official website of Sujoy Roy, the UK's first and most successful professional video gamer.
The Gamer
A straight A student, Sujoy read Physics at Cambridge University and earnt a Masters degree in Physics before taking a slick city job at JP Morgan, working in Wall Street, New York. Despite the pay and perks of the bank job the daily grind didn't suit this hardcore gamer and before long he had quit his job to become the UK's first professional gamer. With international sponsorship and endorsement deals, Sujoy travelled the world competing in major Quake tournaments. Sujoy set the benchmark for professional gamers around the world with clever promotional campaigns for his sponsors, generating media exposure unheard of in the industry. The collection of clippings and radio/television appearances in 2000 and 2001 are available for viewing on this site.
The Architect
Since retiring as a professional gamer, Sujoy has been helping build the concept of ESports by creating communities (ESReality, IGUK), organising tournaments (Cyberathlete Professional League, World Cyber Games, GameStars, Acon), and building World class gaming stadiums. In 2007, Sujoy is working on a new project to build an exciting new gaming entertainment destination in the heart of London. With the birth of the first Worldwide Professional Gaming League, Sujoy decided to take on the role of General Manager of the London team as part of the Championship Gaming Series. Sujoy drafted his first team for The London Mint on 27 September 2007, then the team went on to win the UK Grand Final vs Birmingham Salvo on 28 September 2007. The London Mint will next go to LA to take part in the CGS World Finals in December. All the CGS shows will be screened on Sky1 in the week running up to Christmans 2007.
